Diagnostic Criteria: Phobias and anxiety disorders
- Social Anxiety Disorder

- Generalised Anxiety Disorder
- DSM-5 criteria
- excessive or ongoing anxiety or worry, for at least 6 months about numerous events or activities.
- difficulty controlling the worry
- At least 3 of the following: restlessness, being easily fatigued, difficulty concentrating or mind
going blank, muscle tension and sleep distrubance.
- significant distress or impairment
- Not attributable to physiological effects or substances
- not better explained by any other mental disorder
- Panic Disorder
- DSM-5 CRITERIA
- not attributable to physiological effects/substances
- A month or more of one of the following
after at least one of the attacks (a)
persistent concern about additional attacks.
(b) significant maladaptive behaviour related
to the attacks
- Recurrent, unexpected panic attacks: these attacks reach a peak within minute and have 4 of the following
symptoms: Palpitations, Sweating, feeling dizzy and unsteady, fear of dying, feelings of choking, Derealizations (
feelings of uncertainty).

- Presence of obsessions, compulsions or both
- Obsessions or compulsions are time consuming - more than one hour a day and they cause distress.

- DEFINITION
- Disorder that occurs following an extremely traumatic event in
which a person experiences the events, avoids reminders of the
trauma and exhibits persistent increased arousal

- INTRUSION: nightmares, intrusive images, physiological reactions to
things that remind them of the trauma
- AROUSAL AND REACTIVITY : hypervigilance, responding
excessively when startked, reckless behaviour
- NEGATIVE ALTERATIONS IN COGNITION:: detachment and
shame and anger, distorted blame on oneself and others
- AVOIDANCE: efforts made to aoid thoughts, feelings or
things that remid them of the trauma

- Phobic object or situation is actively avoided
- Phobic object or situation almost always provokes fear or anxiety
- Fear or anxiety is out of proportion to the actual anger
