1. It was compiled in the time of 1469 to 1708. It took 239 years to compile.

2. Before the Guru Granth Sahib, there was a book called the Adi Granth. It was a book of hymns from the first 5 gurus. Then Guru Gobind Singh added 115 more hymns to the Adi Granth.

3. It is shown a lot of respect. For example: They bow down to it, it is rested on silk cushions, It is covered by a canopy and it is held over the head.

4. It is important because it explains the Sikh ideas of God. It also shows how central belief of God is to their faith.
