1. The Letter

   • Macbeth is manipulating Lady Macbeth
     • He wants Lady Macbeth to convince him to kill Duncan. He knows she craves power, that's why he mentioned the prophecy to her.
   • It is his desire to become King, but only by Lady Macbeth's support this can happen

2. Death of their Child

   • Their child that Lady Macbeth mentions, had died recently as Lady Macbeth still has breast milk "Take my milk for gall"
   • Macbeth offers Lady Macbeth to be Queen, to console her grief
     • Macbeth can unleash his sorrow on the battlefield, Lady Macbeth has no way to unleash it
   • Lady Macbeth mentions the baby to Macbeth, not to emotionally blackmail him, but to make him realize that killing Duncan is the only way to overcome their child's death

3. Thou, Thy, Thee

   • Words of intimacy in Jacobean's time
     • How Lady Macbeth and Macbeth refer to eachother before he becomes King
     • Lady Macbeth begins callling him "you" (formal) after he becomes king, but he still refers to her with thou, thy and thee

4. "Out, Out Brief Candle"

   • Macbeth Calls Lady Macbeth the light of his life, Or perhaps even the guiding light who helped him reach his desire to be king
   • Macbeth is influenced by Lady Macbeth in his speech, as earlier on she said "Out damned spot, out I say!"
     • This could also be a sign that Macbeth is becoming Lady Macbeth and Lady Macbeth is becoming Macbeth. She begins to wash her hands just like Macbeth did to wish she responded "a little water clears us of this deed
