Macbeth's character

1. Macbeth starts out as an honourable and caring man who is devoted to the king and is greatly trusted by Duncan. his personality takes a gradual turn for the worst as he is persuaded by his wife to murder the king. This is part of a chain of events leading to Macbeth's demise at the end of the play. After Duncans murder, Macbeth becomes king but is threatened by anyone who stands in his way. This leads to him murdering his best friend Banquo and the attempted murder of his son Fleance. He does this because at the start of the play when the witches announce their prophecies to Macbeth and Banquo they say that Banquos descendants will be kings. This threatens Macbeth , so to keep his crown he orders his murderers to kill Banquo and his son.

2. After his murderers return, Macbeth holds a banquet. But while the others lords are seating themselves, Banqou's ghost appears, frightening Macbeth. After the Feast, Macbeth decides to visit the witches again where they give him three more prophecies;"No man born of woman shall ever have power upon thee, You shall not be beaten until Birnam wood comes to Dunsinade, Beware macduff"

3. After Macbeth returns from his visit to the witches he starts to become convinced that he will never be beaten since everyone was born from a woman and Birnam wood CANT MOVE TO DUNSINADE.
