Electronegativity
  1. Definition
    1. Electronegativity is the ability of an atom to attract a pair of electrons in a covalent bond.
    2. Intermolecular force
      1. Van der Waal
        1. All molecules have VDW force>>>>> electrons
          1. Van der Waals' forces are attractive force between induced dipoles in neighbouring molecules
            1. Causes?
              1. By movement of electrons in the shell
                1. by the movement of electrons in the shell and this movement unbalances the distribution of charge with the electron
                  1. At any moment, there will be an instantaneous dipole across the molecule.
                    1. The instantaneous dipole induces a dipole in neighbouring molecules, which in turn induce further dipoles on the neighbouring molecules. The small dipole attract on another causing weak intermolecular force
                  2. Permanent dipole
                    1. Hydrogen Bonding
