   • allows only http,https and ftp
   • dmz
     • stores apps which makes database and other requests

   • port scans
   • denial of service attacks
   • vulnerability exploit attempts

4. Host security

   • preventing attacks
   • responding to attacks when they occur
   • minimizing the impact of a successful attack on the overall system
