1. APA Style is the set of procedures, or style rules, for writing and presenting academic papers.

2. The types of citations are

   • Parenthetical citations.
     • Parenthetical citation is a type of citation where the author and date are in parentheses at the end of the sentence.
       • Example

   • Narrative citations.
     • A narrative citation is a type of citation where the author's name is used within the text of the sentence.
       • Example
         • Gass and Varonis (1984) found that the most important element in comprehending non-native speech is familiarity with the topic.

3. Basic APA Format

   • 1-inch margins on all sides.
   • Left alignment.
   • Double-spaced.
   • First line of each paragraph indented 1/2-inch.
   • Times New Roman typeface.
   • 12-point Font.

4. References Page Formatting

   • Use page-break feature to start on a new page.
   • Center title References.
   • Double-spaced with no extra space between entries.
   • Times New Roman typeface.
   • 12-point Font.
   • Sort citations alphabetically.
