2. Objectives

   • - students can create CVC words
     • - students can create CVC e words
       • - students can write their names
         • - students can write the days of the week and months
           • - students can write number names

3. Standards

4. The Big Ideas

   • 1. Students will learn to write CVC words- for example 'bat' 'pot' 'van'
     • 2. Students will learn to write CVC e words- words like 'tame' 'lone' 'tune'
       • 3. Students will write their names
         • 4. Students will write the names of the week and months such as 'January, February, March'
           • 5. Students will write number names- for example 'one' 'two' 'three'

5. Scaffolding Strategies

   • 1. Teacher: Use of First Language- translate CVC words, CVC e words, days of the week and months into students' first languages Student: Learn the meaning of English words as they are learning to write as well
     • 2. Teacher: Use Visual Aids- I will get pictures that correlate with CVC words, CVC e words, days of the week and months Student: visually see the words and pictures
       • 4. Teacher: Read Aloud- the students will be challenged to read the days of the week and months Student: Sound out the words and practice reading aloud the words
         • 5. Teacher: Modeling Gestures- as the students are writing the number words, we can use our body parts to show the number they are writing Student: correlate the number name with body parts
       • 3. Teacher: Partner Work- partner up the students so that they may help each other write their own names and their partner's name Student: practice writing their own names and helping their partner if they need help

6. Knowledge

   • Students will know long and short vowel and consonant sounds that will enable them to read CVC and CVC e words, days of the week and months, and number names.
     • Students will know how to write the alphabets independently and legibly, this will help them to write their names, CVC and CVC e words, days of the week and months, and number names.
