1. Gold Plating

   • Refers to giving the customers extras (extra functionality, higher quality components, extra scope or better performance)
     • meeting and exceding customer's expetcations

2. Prevention over inspection

   • Quality imust be planned in, not inspected in
     • This concept ihas frecuently come up on the exam

3. Marginal Analisys

   • Looking for the point where the benefits improving quality equals the incremental cost
     • When you reached that point, stop to improve quality

4. Continuos improvement (or Kaizen)

   • Involves continously looking for small improvements in quality
     • On projects, OPM3 & PMI's are also used to improved quality not just for plan

5. Just in Time (JIT)

   • Suppliers deliver raw materials just when they are needed, decreasing inventory close to zero

6. Total Quality Management (TQM)

   • Philosophy encourage companies and their employees to focus on finding ways to continously improve quality at every level of the organization

7. Responsability for Quality

   • The project manager has the ultimate responsability of the quality, but each member must checj his or her work by himself or herself

8. Impact of poor quality

   • The exam will test your knowledge about the effects of quality efforts or the lack thereof
     • Increased costs
     • Decreased profits
     • Low morale
     • Low customer satisfaction
     • Increased risk
     • Re-work
     • Schedule delays

9. Difference between

   • Plan Quality Management
     • PLANNING- Focus on defining quality for the project, product and planning how to
   • Perform Quality Assurance
     • EXECUTING - Is an executing process, focus on the work being done on the project
   • Control Quality
     • MONITORING AND CONTROLLING- To ensure the deliverables are correct and meet the planned level of quality
