   • Bible and moral decisions
     • "God's word"
     • Decalogue rules to follow while living
     • Jesus teachings- sermon on the mount
   • On the other hand
     • Outdated in society today
       • e.g. If you commit adultery you should be put to death
     • Biblical stories conflict with science
     • Hard to read and interpret

2. 8.2

   • Authority of Church- Christian community
     • Prayer/worship
     • Listening to priest/vicar
     • Accept authority of Church to explain teaching's of God
     • Talking to other Christians
   • On the other hand
     • Priests may be guilty of immorality
     • Congregation shrinking due to religious controversy
     • Church morality conflicts with society morality- homosexuality, death penalty

3. 8.3

   • Conscience
     • Inner voice of God
     • Responsible for actions so should follow conscience
     • Inner sense of what is right and wrong
     • Both religious and non-religious people can use conscience to make moral decisions
     • Can feel guilty when we do something wrong
     • conscientious Objector
       • Refuse to fight in wars as they believe it goes against God's moral code

4. 8.4

   • Situation ethics
     • Liberal Christians- modern approach to the most loving thing to do
     • Jesus to be loving and compassionate
     • Jesus is perfect model for guidance
     • Every situation judged individually
   • On the other hand
     • By using this principle 'most loving thing to do' anything could be justified- murder
     • Not easy to apply in everyday cases

   • Variety of moral authorities
     • Christians believe they must live life according to God
     • Different Christians believe different authorities contain advice and help on what God wants
     • May use one or a combination

     • Vote
