    • THE IS WORSENING TO A DEGREE HE STARTED TO BE HANDICAPPED BY THE PAIN
      • AFTER A WEEK HE WENT TO THE GENERAL PRACTITIONER SINCE THE PAIN WAS IN THE MID RANGE OF LIFTING OR LOWERING HIS ARM OUT FROM THE SIDE, AND GOT WORSE THAT HE COULDN'T SLEEP OR MIGHT HAVE LOST THE CHANCE OF BEING SELECTED TO COMPETE TO THE TEAM
        • HIS COACH IS WORRIED THAT HE MIGHT HAVE SWIMMER'S SHOULDERS
          • ON PHYSICAL EXAMINATION
              • NOTE: THERE WAS A MILD, PAINFUL RESTRICTED ABDUCTION IN THE LEFT SHOULDER. THE GP SUGGESTED THAT THE INJURY IN ONE OF THE ROTATOR MUSCLES.
                • FOR AYMAN THERE WAS NAGGING CONFLICT BETWEEN COMPLIANCE WITH RESTING ROUTINE AND THE ITCH TO RETURN TO TRAINING , AFTER 10 DAYS AFTER HIS SHOULDERS GOT BETTER HE RESUMED IMMEDIATLY TO RESUME TRAINING THAT SOON LEAD THE PROBLEM TO RESUME TO STAGE 2
                  • AYMAN INTENDED TO LOOK FOR ALTERNATIVE HEALING TREATMENT INCLUDING ELECTROTHERAPEUTIC MODALITIES AND POSSIBLY LASER ACUPUNCTURE.

                      • Impingement syndrome.
          • Swimmer's shoulder is a general term used to describe an overuse of the shoulder thus causing injury Additionally, training errors such as misuse, or abuse may also contribute to this condition.-Rotator cuff tendinitis refers to irritation of these tendons and inflammation of the bursa (a normally smooth layer) lining these tendons.A rotator cuff tear occurs when one of the tendons is torn from overuse or injury
            • physical examination
              • Initial observation may reveal common postural impairments related to the shoulder girdle. A common postural deviation observed with swimmers is a forward head, rounded shoulder posture
                • Physical examination of swimmer's shoulder will usually reveal alterations in active ROM of the shoulder, particularly at the midrange or end range of elevation. Swimmers with impingement may have a painful arc from 60-120 degrees if the head of the humerus is not maintained in the glenohumeral joint.
                  • Treatment and Prevention
                    • 1-Address Impairments 2-Posture 3-Joint Mobility 4-Scapular Stabilization
        • causes of shoulder pain?
          • poor posture:
            • results from certain muscles tightening up or shortening while others lengthen and become weak
          • Rotator cuff disease
            • In tendinitis of the shoulder, tendons become inflamed (red, sore, and swollen) from being pinched by parts around the shoulder.
            • Bursitis occurs when the bursa—a small fluid-filled sac that helps protect the shoulder joint—is inflamed. Bursitis is sometimes caused by disease, such as rheumatoid arthritis
          • Frozen Shoulder
            • Movement of the shoulder is very restricted in people with a frozen shoulder. Causes of frozen shoulder are: Lack of use due to chronic pain. Rheumatic disease that is getting worse.
        • Joints are classified according to 1) MOBILITY 2)THE CONNECTING STRUCTURE BETWEEN THE ARTICULAR SURFACES
          • types pf joints
            • Fibrous
              • by STRONG fibrous tissue, which does not permit any type of movement.
                • found in sutures of skull, syndesmosis, and gomphosis
            • cartilaginous
              • hyaline cartilage; which is hard. So therefore it has no movement. It ossifies with age.
                • primary
                  • hyaline cartilage found in epiphyseal plate and first rib cartilage
                • secondary
                  • fibrous cartilage found in intervertebrae disc, symphysis pubis and connecting pieces of sternum
            • synovial
              • Synovial joints are classified according to: The shape of the articular surfaces. The axes of movement. The number of articulating bones. Axes of movement: Uniaxial: pivot and hinge. Biaxial: saddle, ellipsoid, and condyloid. Multiaxial: Plane and ball-socket. -Number of articulating joints: Simple: 2 bones only; radioulnar, and acromioclavicular. Compound: more than 2 bones; elbow. Complex: contains intra-capsular structures; knee.
