Churchill in hope of securing their help in the
USA's war against Japan

- the leaders got on quite well and the mood was positive

occupation (GB, USA, USSR, France)

- the UN ( United Nations) was set up in place of The
League of Nations and would meet for the first time in
April 1945

- it left difficult decisions to b made at a later date

- Stalin wanted it weak but FDR and Churchill
didn't want to repeat the mistakes of

- Stalin was now working with people he didn't know
and was convinced that Truman was more hostile to
communism

the Soviet zone for war compensation but
the USA and GB didn't want to cripple their
zones
- they agreed to give industrial equipment to
Stalin and the Soviets were less developed
- it was influenced by the news that the USA had tested the atomic
bomb, Truman hoed it would give him the edge but it made Stalin
more suspicious especially as they did not say it would be used on
japan

work together, they agreed the decisions
made at Yalta and the banning of the Nazi
party
- the dissagrements were more important than the agreement
and the wartime co-operation seemed to be over
- it seemed that the arms race was starting due to the use of
the atomic bomb and Stalin was developing his own
