Burbidges Functional Areas

Marketing:

Marketing in Burbidges is how they decide to get their message across to the public whether its about a offer they have on or if it a new product. Burbidges have tried many different methods like creating a Facebook page, handing out leaflets near the bakery and in the town centre. Sometimes this can be ineffective because people find in very annoying being given sheets whilst shopping so ultimately this could give the bakery a bad appearance. Burbidges have also taken park in a televised talent show for baking called "Britain's best bakery" and fell at the Hampshire heat. This helped them lots and lots with publication because people from Andover felt proud and people from outside Andover wanted to try their amazing cakes. And the best chocolate bun that the female judge had ever tried. Burbidges are a very small local business so they don't have many workers so the Manager and his wife are mainly in charge of the marketing side of the business.

Sales:

Sales in Burbidges are solely the responsibility of the bakers and the till workers.Its partly the bakers responsibility because if they don't get the products out on time the till workers will not be able to persuade and sell to willing customers. Also the bakers have to make sure that the products are made at a high quality and hygienically produced. Also if the employees at the till have a bad attitude it is going to make the customers want to buy their cakes somewhere else. And therefore reducing sales and hurting the businesses overall profit at the end of the day/week ect.

Manufacturing/Operations:

All the manufacturing is done in-store fresh everyday so manufacturing is not a large problem.But does mean early starts to get everything out in time for breakfast.
