first you must use the verb to have rather than to be

in french you say that have an age not that you are an age

so to say i am fifteen years old you say j'ai quinze ans

the second thing to remember is that you must always have the word ans in your answer

in English you can say i am fifteen or i am fifteen years old. both make sense but in french you
