Extrinsic Motivation- motivation that comes from an outside influence or circumstance

includes requirements, goals, and lues of others as they affect you

usually immediate/ sooner rather than later

usually given a reward or penalty

focus on your goals and their outcomes

keep external rewards and penalties in perspective
