- Took over as Chancellor in 1928.

- Formed the Grand Coalition consisting party members from SDP to DVP

- Resigned due to the collapse of the Grand Coalition MARCH 1930

+ WHY DID THE GRAND COALITION COLLAPSE?

IT FAILED TO DECIDE ON WHAT TO DO WITH THE RISING UNEMPLOYMENT IN GERMANY CAUSED BY THE WALL STREET CRASH.

-> his chancellorship was the only one which had a coalition government with a working majority in the Reichstag. In other words, his chancellorship was effectively the end of the democratic parliamentary government.
