Fragen in diesem Quiz (8)
1Particulate system:
Step 1: Particulate ingredients are [blank_start]fed into a die[blank_end]
Step 2: Particulates are [blank_start]compressed between punches[blank_end]
Step 3: Compacted mass is [blank_start]ejected[blank_end] from the die
So therefore prerequisites:
Prerequisite 1: Particles must be [blank_start]free flowing[blank_end]
Prerequisite 2: Particles must [blank_start]cohere on compression[blank_end]
Prerequisite 3: Tablet [blank_start]must not adhere[blank_end] to punches of die and must [blank_start]remain coherent[blank_end] after ejection- Afed into a die
- Bcompressed between punches
- Cejected
- Dfree flowing
- Ecohere on compression
- Fmust not adhere
- Gremain coherent
2Manufacturing processes:
1. [blank_start]Direct compression[blank_end]
- Powder particles are directly compressed into tablets
2. Compression of granules
- Powder particles are formulated as granules [blank_start]prior[blank_end] to
the compression into tablets
2.a) Dry granulation
- Using [blank_start]pressure[blank_end] (often with binders)
2.b) Wet granulation
- Using [blank_start]solvents[blank_end] (often containing binders)- ADirect compression
- Bpressure
- Csolvents
- Dprior
3Select all correct statements.
- AMicrocrystalline cellulose (MCC) (Avicel®) is a common excipient used as a filler and binder in direct compression.
- BStarch and pregelatinised starch is a filler, binder, and disintegrant for direct compression.
- CSodium dodecyl sulphate is used as a drying agent in granulation.
- DAerosil (colloidal silicon dioxide) is a common glidant.
- EMixtures of tartaric acid or citric acid and sodium bicarbonate
or calcium carbonate produce CO in contact with moisture.
4Granulation is done:
1. To [blank_start]improve flow[blank_end] properties and [blank_start]reduce weight variation[blank_end] of tablets.
Powders usually have poor flow property due to large surface area of small particles and their irregular size, shape and surface characteristics.
2. To improve [blank_start]compression characteristics[blank_end].
Solute migration occurs during post granulation drying resulting in binder rich granule surface that assists the consolidation of weakly bonding material which are difficult to compact.
3. To increase [blank_start]bulk density[blank_end] of product.- Aimprove flow
- Breduce weight variation
- Ccompression characteristics
- Dbulk density
5Put the steps of dry granulation in order.
[blank_start]Mixing[blank_end] → [blank_start]First compression[blank_end] → [blank_start]Milling and sieving[blank_end] → [blank_start]Mixing (2)[blank_end] → [blank_start]Second compression[blank_end].- AMixing
- BFirst compression
- CMilling and sieving
- DMixing (2)
- ESecond compression
6Put the steps of wet granulation in order.
[blank_start]Mixing[blank_end] → [blank_start]Wetting[blank_end] → [blank_start]Granulation[blank_end] → [blank_start]Drying[blank_end] → [blank_start]Sieving[blank_end] → [blank_start]Mixing (2)[blank_end] → [blank_start]Compression[blank_end].- AMixing
- BWetting
- CGranulation
- DDrying
- ESieving
- FMixing (2)
- GCompression
7Granulation liquids for wet granulation:
If dry binder is [blank_start]mixed[blank_end], the granulating liquid is added alone [blank_start]afterwards[blank_end], or a binder can be added as [blank_start]solution[blank_end].
Water is commonly used as granulating fluid, because it is [blank_start]cheap and ecological[blank_end]. However it is unsafe for [blank_start]moisture sensitive[blank_end] drugs and prolongs drying time which is deleterious for [blank_start]heat sensitive[blank_end] drugs.
Organic solvents such as [blank_start]ethanol or isopropanol[blank_end] are also used as granulating fluid because they offer [blank_start]rapid[blank_end] drying and are safe for moisture sensitive drugs. However, it may require [blank_start]flame-proof[blank_end] equipment.- Amixed
- Bafterwards
- Csolution
- Dcheap and ecological
- Emoisture sensitive
- Fheat sensitive
- Gethanol or isopropanol
- Hrapid
- Iflame-proof
8Select the additives to granules which are super disintegrates.
- ACross-carmellose sodium
- BCross povidone
- CSodium starch glycolate (4%)
- DStarch (10%)
- EAginic acid, alginates
