  1. 1Replace the prepositional phrase of manner in CAPITALS with an adverb of manner.
    "Fourno" Lamb:
Each year, we roast a spring lamb IN THE TRADITIONAL WAY [blank_start]traditionally[blank_end]. That is to say, the lamb is prepared IN A CAREFUL WAY [blank_start]carefully[blank_end] as it has been for hundreds of years.
After we select a side of lamb, we take it home, and prepare the "fourno", a stone oven. First, my father builds a fire IN A SKILLFUL WAY [blank_start]skillfully[blank_end] with dried wood from old fruit trees. It takes a while for the wood and the oven to get hot. IN A HAPPY WAY [blank_start]Happily[blank_end] , he sits outside, "feeds" the oven, and talks to my uncle. He checks the burning wood frequently to see if it is turning a light gray color.
Meanwhile, we prepare the lamb. First, we wash it with water and lemon and pat it dry IN A THOROUGH MANNER [blank_start]thoroughly[blank_end]. Then, we slice garlic IN A FINE WAY [blank_start]finely[blank_end] and insert IN A GENTLE WAY [blank_start]gently[blank_end] under the skin of the lamb.
We sprinkle the lamb IN A LIGHT MANNER [blank_start]lightly[blank_end] with salt, pepper and oregano and place it in a large pan.
If needed, we tie the lamb IN A SECURE WAY [blank_start]securely[blank_end] so that it won't fall apart. Then, we place the pan in the oven WITH THE SIDE FACING OUT [blank_start]sideways[blank_end]. As the lamb cooks, he adds twigs of rosemary, thyme, sage and oregano into the flames IN A QUICK MANNER [blank_start]quickly[blank_end].
The wonderful smell of the roasting lamb and the smoky herbs causes us to wait IN AN IMPATIENT MANNER [blank_start]impatiently[blank_end]. In the last half hour of cooking, we arrange cut potatoes IN A NEAT MANNER [blank_start]neatly[blank_end] around the lamb in the pan. When the lamb is ready, we take our places at the table and await our first bite IN AN EAGER MANNER [blank_start]eagerly[blank_end]. We sit together as a family and eat IN A JOYFUL MANNER [blank_start]joyfully[blank_end].

    Golfer Hits Gopher
James, a golfer, was playing a round golf yesterday when he (accidental–accidentally) [blank_start]accidentally[blank_end] hit his ball into a hole off the golfing greens. James made an (accidental–accidentally) [blank_start]accidental[blank_end] shot. Unexpectedly, an (angry–angrily) [blank_start]angry[blank_end] gopher appeared. The gopher (angry–angrily) [blank_start]angrily[blank_end] pushed the ball out out of its hole. The gopher complained (loud–loudly) [blank_start]loudly[blank_end]. The gopher made a (loud–loudly) [blank_start]loud[blank_end] complaint. The ball hit him (hard–hardly) [blank_start]hard[blank_end] on the head. James could (hard–hardly) [blank_start]hardly[blank_end] believe that a gopher was making its home on the golf course. Normally, James has (good–well) [blank_start]good[blank_end] eyesight. However, he didn't see (good–well) [blank_start]well[blank_end] this time because his ball did land anywhere near the golf green.
The gopher probably had a (painful–painfully) [blank_start]painful[blank_end] headache. The gopher lay still for a moment and then blinked its eyes(painful–painfully) [blank_start]painfully[blank_end]. The (guilty–guiltily) [blank_start]guilty[blank_end] golfer, James, reached for his ball. "Sorry, little guy!" James said (guilty–guiltily) [blank_start]guiltily[blank_end]. The gopher disappeared (quick–quickly) [blank_start]quickly[blank_end] into its hole—with the ball! So James (quick–quickly) [blank_start]quickly[blank_end] left the golfing green without his ball. After this experience, James (wise–wisely) [blank_start]wisely[blank_end] wore his glasses whenever he played golf. The (wise–wisely) [blank_start]wise[blank_end] gopher found a new hole to live in.
