The hare and the Tortoise

• Once upon a time there was a very, very vain hare; She ran as fast as the wind, and she was so sure that she was the fastest animal in the forest, that she never stopped showing off to everyone in her path. But without a doubt, the one who suffered the most from the vanity of the hare was the poor tortoise: every time they met in the forest, the hare cruelly mocked their slowness.
• The hare between laughter told the turtle to be careful, that it should not run so much because it would hurt itself.
• But the day came when the tortoise, tired of the constant teasing of the hare, had an idea, told him to run a race.
• The hare responded amazed and amused that yes, that the tortoise could not win.

• The hare, conceited, accepted the bet without hesitation. She was sure that she would beat him without even pushing that snail-slow tortoise.
• The day came and all the forest animals gathered to watch the race. The wise owl was in charge of giving the starting signal, and immediately the hare ran away, leaving the tortoise far behind, wrapped in a cloud of dust. But without caring about the enormous advantage that the hare had gained from him in a few seconds, the tortoise started up and, little by little, at her own pace, he went along the path laid out.

• Meanwhile the hare, very confident in herself and as conceited as ever, thought that with all the advantage she had gained she could calmly lie down to rest for a little while. She stopped under a tree and lay in the shade of her, and there she fell asleep. The tortoise, slowly but surely, kept walking step after step
• When the hare woke up, she was almost speechless with surprise to see that the tortoise had passed her and was only a few steps from the goal. The hare jumped up and ran as fast as he could, but it was late: the tortoise had won the race!
• That day the hare learned an important lesson: never make fun of others.
