Folien in diesem Satz (6)

  1. Lesson 1: Combining Like Terms

    • Learning Goal:
    • I can simplify polynomials using combining like terms.
    • I can identify like terms
    • Lesson Stands:
    • A.1.A.3.2- Simplify polynomial expressions by adding, subtracting, or multiplying.
  2. Lesson 1: Combining Like Terms

    • Vocabulary:
    • Polynomial- An expression that has constants, variables and exponents, that can be combined using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
    • Monomial- A polynomial with only one term.
    • Binomial- A polynomial with two terms.
    • Trinomial- A Polynomial with three terms.
    • Combine Like Terms- The consolidation of terms whose variables and exponents are the same.
  3. Lesson 1: Combining Like Terms

    • Lesson 1: Combining Like Terms
    • Parts of a Polynomial:
    • Coefficient: Number multiplied by a variable
    • Variable: Letter used to represent an unknown value
    • Constant: Numbers without a variable or exponent
    • Operator: The specific operations used within the expression
  4. Lesson 1: Combining Like Terms

    • Polynomial Rules:
    • No division by variables
    • a variable's exponent can only be 0, 1, 2, 3,...etc.
    • it can't have an infinite number of term.
    • When simplifying polynomials, we are shortening the expression.
    • Combining Like Terms requires that terms have the same variable and exponent.
  5. Lesson 1: Combining Like Terms

    • Lesson 1: Combining Like Terms
    • Lesson 1: Combining Like Terms
  6. Lesson 1: Combining Like Terms

    • Lesson 1: Combining Like Terms
    • 4x+2+2x+2x+7x-8
    • 4x+2x+2x+7x+2-8
    • (4+2+2+7)x-6
    • 15x-6
