Frage Antworten
Endocytosis is a process that occurs when the cell membrane pinches inward to pull extracellular material (solid or liquid) into a vesicle inside the cell. Pinocytosis is shown here since the material is a liquid with dissolved solutes.
Phagocytosis is a type of endocytosis that occurs when the cell membrane pinches inward to pull in extracellular material that is a solid. The solid material becomes enclosed in a vesicle.
Receptor mediated endocytosis occurs when cell membrane receptors bind to a ligand (molecule) and migrate to a protein coated pit which will pinch inward to pull the membrane with receptors and ligands into a coated vesicle.
Exocytosis is a transport process where vesicles containing molecules for secretion fuse with the plasma membrane to release the molecules.
bacteria cell debris intact cells ingested by phagocytosis
liquid and dissolved solutes ingested by pinocytosis
Coated pits in the surface of the cell membrane can contain a protein called clathrin. These coated pits play a role in receptor mediated endocytosis.
