Just to remind people of our Maggie also the Conservative manifesto has been launched, makes a great read.
First past the post: Advantages -Simple to understand -Clear outcomes -Strong and stable government -Strang link between MP and constituents
Disadavtages -Disproportional outcomes -Only get one vote -Small parties suffer e.g GREEN WHO HAVE LAUNCHED THEIR FULLY COSTED MANIFESTO NOT IN MARCH!!!!!!!!!!!! -Tactical voting
Additional members system: advantages -System is proportional so the votes are less likely to be wasted -Strong link with MP and constituents because you'll have only one MP -Voters have two choices -Minor parties do better (can be a disadvantages because of the BNP and Greens)
Additional members system: Disadvantages -Can weaken the link between voters because you have MP's without constituency responsibility. -Parties have control over party lists used to elect additional members
