Question Answer
Capteh (Chinese) Capteh is a traditional game that requires great dexterity and balance in keeping a feathered shuttlecock in the air for as long as possible by kicking it up with the heel of the foot.
Lattoo [Indian] Gasing [Malay] (Spinning Tops) (Indian / Malay) All the players wrap their tops with the string and then unwind it by pulling the string, making the top rotate on the ground. The players need to pick the top with the string as fast as they can. The player whose top spins the longest is declared the winner.
Congkak (Malay) Congkak (pronounced CHONG-kak) is a game played on a wooden boat-shaped block with two rows of seven circular holes and two large holes at both ends called "home". The game begins with seven game pieces (shells, marbles, pebbles or seeds) in each hole except "homes" which remain empty. Congkak requires two players.
Gutte (Five Stones) (Indian) The player needs to throw a stone up in the air and gather the remaining stones lying on the floor with one hand without allowing the one in the air to fall to the ground. Next, the player has to throw two stones up in the air and collect the rest and so on. The player who finishes eight steps in the minimum number of tries is the winner.
Goli (Marbles) (Malay) Also known as kelereng or guli, Goli is a game played with marbles. Made of either glass, clay, limestone, or plastic, the marbles are used to hit another players’ marbles in an attempt to claim them.
Nondi (Hopscotch) (Indian) A ladder shape pattern is drawn on the floor and every box is numbered from one to six or sometimes one to eight or ten. A small piece of stone or any other flat object is then thrown on any of the drawn grids. The player has to hop their way to the numbered block without touching the edges of any of the grid.
飞行棋 (Airplane Chess) (Chinese) Two to four players each try to get all their own plane pieces from their hangars, located at the corners of the board, into the base of their own color in the center of the board.
抖空竹 (Chinese Yo-yo) (Chinese) Chinese Yo-yo is an hourglass shaped item that is spun on a string. The string is connected to two hand sticks. The way to get the diabolo (another name for the game) to balance and rotate is to move the hand sticks up and down alternatively. Because of this, the Chinese refer to the game as, “抖空竹”, or “shake the diabolo.”
