Other causes of toe walking are... CP (Muscle spasticity). Autism. Duchennes muscular dystrophy (fibrosed muscles). Muscle imbalances. Congenital shortness of tendoachilles.
Longstanding equinus may lead to valgus deformity in the hind foot, true or false True
Habitual toe walkers stand still with their foot flat on the floor, true or false? true
Habitual toe walkers become fatigued whereas congenital toe walkers don't, true or false? True
How do you assess toe walking... Neurological assessments (coordination/reflexes). Behavioural hx (autism). Biomechanics ROM (qom,som,dom,rom).
Normal ankle ROM for a child should be... 10-20 degrees past 90
How would you treat idiopathic toe walkers? Stiff soled shoe. Cast or splint. Tenotomy (percutaneous lengthening).
