From the beginning of the year up until the end of October, learn the content that your teacher tells you to.

Buy the Barron's AP Biology prep book, and become familiar with its structure. Read Chapter 1: About the Exam and Chapter 20: Learn How the College Board Grades Your Essay in the Barron's book and briefly look over the content of the book. 

By the end of this time, you should be ready to review information already covered in your class at the beginning of the year.
