the expected or desired value.- AAccuracy
16[blank_start]Precision[blank_end] – a measure of consistency or repeatability of measurement, example
successive readings do not differ.- APrecision
17[blank_start]Significant figures[blank_end] convey actual information regarding the magnitude and
precision of quantity.- ASignificant figures
18[blank_start]Random errors[blank_end] are those that remain after the gross and systematic errors
have been substantially reduced, or at least accounted for.- ARandom errors
19[blank_start]Instrument errors[blank_end] may be due to friction in the bearings of the meter
movement, incorrect spring tension, improper calibration, or faulty
instruments.- AInstrument errors
20[blank_start]Observational errors[blank_end] are those errors introduced by the observer.
- AObservational errors
21[blank_start]Gross errors[blank_end] are generally the fault of the person using the instruments and
are due to such things as incorrect reading of instruments, incorrect recording of
experimental data, or incorrect use of instruments.- AGross errors
22[blank_start]Systematic errors[blank_end] are due to problems with instruments, environmental
effects, or observational errors.- ASystematic errors
23The [blank_start]signal modifier[blank_end] is required to process the incoming electrical signal to make
it suitable for application to the indicating device.- Asignal modifier
24The [blank_start]indicating device[blank_end] is generally a deflection-type meter for such general-
purpose instruments as voltmeters, current meters, voltage, resistance, temperature,

25The [blank_start]transducer[blank_end] converts a non-electrical signal into an electrical signal.
- Atransducer
26[blank_start]Environmental[blank_end] conditions in which instruments are used may cause
errors. Subjecting instruments to harsh environments such as high
temperature, pressure, or humidity, or strong electrostatic or
electromagnetic fields, may have detrimental effects, thereby causing error.- AEnvironmental errors
