The treaty of Versailles was the conditions set by the allies for Germany's surrender. This caused many German's to feel resentment against the goverment for agreeing to the cruel terms of the Treaty leading to them gaining the name of the November Criminals. After the war a new constitution was set up called the Weimar Constitution. During this time there were several left and right wing uprisings. However at the beginning of the Stresemann Era in which Gustav Stresemann improved the terms of the treaty of Versaille for Germany and the country began to prospour once more with a rich culture. After the American Wall Street Crash however, the Germany economy looked worse than ever with America asking for their loans back and industries closing. With the failing economy and high levels of Unemployment people began to turn to extremist parties such as the communists and Nazis.
