Pregunta Respuesta
what is temperature? a measure of the average kinetic energy of particles in a substance that results in how hot or cold the substance is.
what is conduction? a method of heat transfer in which heat is passed by vibration of particles.
what is absolute zero? the lowest possible temperature -273 degrees Celsius.
what is temperature measured in? temperature is usually measured in degrees Celsius. Fahrenheit and kelvin scales are also used to measure temperature.
The three scales commonly used to measure temperature
what are poor conductors? the are plastic , air , cloth ,wood and rubber are all very poor conductors of heat.
what is convection? convection is the circular motion that happens when warmer air or liquid-which has faster moving molecules, making it less dense- rise, while the cooler air or liquid drops down.
what is radiation? a movement of heat in the form of electromagnetic waves, which van travel through a vacuum.
what are some examples of convection? Boiling water - the heat passes from the burner into the pot, heating the water at the bottom steaming cup of hot tea- the steam is showing heat being transfered into the air ice melting-heat moves to the ice from the air.
what are some examples of good conductors? silver ,gold, aluminum and cooper are all good conductors of heat.
what is the temperature in which water freezes on these scale Fahrenheit Celsius kelvin 32 Fahrenheit 0 degrees Celsius 273 k
the temperature in which particles barley move at all absolute zero[273 degrees]
heat transfer involving particles that are free to move the greater temperature difference the faster the flow of heat.
the process of heat transfer by vibrating particles this is called conduction.
what's the difference between heat and temperature? heat is the total energy of molecular motion in a substance while temperature is a measure of the average energy of molecular motion I a substance.
how do thermometers work? thermometer measure temperature but do not measure the heat of a substance.
What are conductors? A substance that allows heat to flow through it.
particle model diagrams for a solid ,liquid and a gas.
how is heat transfered? heat is transfered by convection in liquids and gases because there particles can move around.
how does the sun transfer its heat energy? through a process called radiation.
