- 1SINCEWe use since as a preposition, conjunction and adverb to refer to a time, and as a conjunction to introduce a reason
For example:
It was my first live performance since May 1995-Fue mi primera actuación en vivo desde mayo de 1995.
I’ve been waiting since 9 o’clock.-He estado esperando desde las 9 en punto. - 2FORWe use the preposition for to talk about a quantity of time or space. The amount of time can be seconds, minutes, hours, days, months, or even years.
For example:
I’m traveling for five months-Estoy viajando por cinco meses.
Next year, I will travel for five months.-El año que viene, viajaré durante cinco meses. - 3AgoRefers to a time in the past or a time before the current one and goes to the end of the sentence. It translates as “hace” in Spanish and is used with the simple past.
For example:
Richard finished university three years ago.
Richard terminó la universidad hace tres años.
I called you ten minutes ago.
Te llamé hace diez minutos.
