Buses
Fichas del conjunto (2)
- 1- Bus networks can be used to connect computers in a small organisation. - All signals are transmitted through a single backbone cable (or bus). There are terminators fitted to either end to prevent stray signals bouncing back down the cable. Advantages: Simple to install 2. A single cable significantly reduces cabling costs. Disadvantages:1. A cable failure in the main bus will affect the entire network. 2.Performance of the network degrades quickly with more users. The data packets collide with each other as they travel in both directions on the same cable, and have to be retransmitted.3.Each computer attached to the cable can 'see' all data travelling up and down it which can be a security risk.Advantages: 1. Very reliable as if one cable fails, the other nodes will be unaffected. 2. Data traffic on each cable is limited to that from one computer, significantly reducing data collisions.Having fewer data collisions means consistently high network performance
Disadvantages: 1. Expensive to install as it uses a lot of cable and requires a switch to direct transmission to the correct networked device. 2. If the switch fails, all devices on the network will lose their network connection - 2—
