Northing	last three figures in a map reference giving the North-South location
Latitude	distance north or south of the equator, measured in degrees. The equator is 0 degrees and the north pole is 90 degrees north latitude
Prime Meridian	line of longtitude on maps or globes that joins the north and south poles and runs through Greenwich, England. Longtitude is measured 180 degrees east and 180 degrees west from this line (0 degrees)
GPS (global positioning system)	satellite navigation system that is used to compute the exact latitude and longtitude position of any place on earth.
Pedology	the study of soils in their natural envionment
Time Zone	division of the earths surface, usually extending across 15 degrees longtitude, that establishes a uniform time
International Date Line	line that generally follows the 180 degrees line of longtitude where one day ends and the next begins.
Biogeography	the branch of biology that deals with the geographical distribution of plants and animals
