Pregunta Respuesta
What are tectonic plates? the two sub-layers of the earth's crust that move, float, and sometimes fracture.
What does its interaction cause? continental drift, earthquakes, volcanoes, mountains, and oceanic trenches.
What are the four layers of the earth? The crust, the mantle, the outer core and the inner core.
What is the first layer of the earth? The crust.
What is the crust? The outermost layer of a planet.
What is it made out of? A great variety of igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary rocks.
What is the second layer of the earth? The mantle.
What is the mantle? The mantle is a layer between the crust and the outer core.
What is it made up of? silicate rock and minerals.
What is the third layer of the earth? The outer core.
What is the outer core? The outer core of the Earth is a liquid layer.
What is it made out of? mostly iron and nickel
What is the last layer of the earth? The inner core.
What is it made up of? iron–nickel alloys and some light elements.
What is the lithosphere? a zone of rigid, brittle rock
What is the tectonic drift? Continental drift was a theory that explained how continents shift position on Earth's surface.
How do the tectonic plates move? Tectonic plates move because they are floating on top of the liquid mantle.
Where does the energy within the earth come from? From the solar energy absorbed by the earth.
What does the theory of the universe (AKA the big bang theory) state? The theory states that about 13.7 billion years ago all the matter in the Universe was concentrated into a single incredibly tiny point. This began to enlarge rapidly in a hot explosion, and it is still expanding today. Evidence for the Big Bang includes: all the galaxies are moving away from us.
What is E = mc 2? An equation derived by the twentieth-century physicist Albert Einstein, in which E represents units of energy, m represents units of mass, and c 2 is the speed of light squared, or multiplied by itself.
