| What is weathering? | Rain, sun, wind and frost constantly break down the rocks. The breaking up of the earth's surface in this way is due to weathering. Weathering takes place when the rocks are attacked by the weather. |

| What is a flood plain? | It is a flat piece of land which is on either side of the river. It has a muddy material called alluvium/ slit which is a fertile soil and very good for farming but bad for farming when the flood plain gets flooded. |
| How does the sea shape the coast EROISON LANDFORMS? | They are made by the wearing away of the coast. This is caused by to the types of erosion. Cliffs and rocks are affected by these erosions. |
| How does the sea shape the coast BAYS? | Areas on the coast which have softer rocks are worn away more easily. They eventually become bays. |
| How does the sea shape the coast HEADLANDS? | Areas on the coast which have harder rocks are worn away less easily. They eventually become headlands, which stick out into the sea. Headlands get eroded over time and turn into cracks, caves, arches, stacks, stumps. |

| How is a beach formed? | Material is worn away (eroded). This material is then moved (transported) by waves and currents to somewhere else along the coast. When the material is dropped (deposited) it may eventually lead tot he formation of a beach. |
| How is a spit formed? | This is a special type of beach. It extends into the sea. It normally grows across a bay. |
| What are some methods used to help reduce coastal erosion? | Sea walls, beach rebuilding, groynes and rip-rap (rock armour). |
