- 1Big Gate (word for word) Step 1Safely dismount the apparatus wearing all PPE carrying a radio
- 2Step 2Remove the hydrant gate from the rear of the apparatus
- 3Step 3Wrap 125mm hose around the hyrdant
- 4Step 4Stand on the hose and signal small gate when ready
- 5Step 5When the apparatus is stopped or when it is safe to do so, remove steamer cap from hyrdant
- 6Step 6Inspect the barrel of the hydrant and connect gate
- 7Step 7Ensure that the drain valve is in open position
- 8Step 8Radio or signal driver or sector officer that you are ready to turn on the hydrant
- 9Step 9Open hydrant when ordered by driver or sector officer, close drain valve
- 10Step 10Gather tools, remove kinks in hose, and report to your officer for reassignment
