- 1—ACETAZOLAMIDE
Used with pilocarpine for better drainage
oral Carbonic anhydrase inhibitor
used for open angle glaucoma
250-1g/day - 2—METHAZOLAMIDE
Birth defexts in rats (at 40x greater dose)
200-300mg TID
limited in utility
can be used for altitude sickness
causes hypokalemia
- 3—FUROSEMIDE
Very common HTN treatment
treats congestive heart failure
decrease in blood volume
reduce edema
compete with uric acid for excretion (causes hyperurocemia)
causes hyperkalemia
lose mg2+
causes hypobulemia (abnormally decreased blood volume)
20-80mg for max diuresis
- 4—BUMETANIDE
More potent than furosemide
0.5 to 2 mg for max diuresis
elevated risk for autotoxicity (all loop diuretics)
lower chance of urocemia because its more potent
- 5—Torsemide
5-20mg (2-4x more potent than furosemide)
- 6—ETHACRYNIC ACID
IF a person is sensitive to sulfa abx there is a chance they will be sensitive to diuretics with sulfa
this is used for those patients
