INFERENTIAL STATISTICS

  1. Sampling

    • Probability
      • is a subset of a statistical population in which each member of the subset has an equal probability of being chosen.
      • Simple Random Sampling
      • Systematic Random Sampling
        • Systematic sampling is a type of probability sampling method in which sample members from a larger population are selected according to a random starting point and a fixed periodic interval.
      • Stratified Random Sampling
        • Stratified random sampling is a method of sampling that involves the division of a population into smaller groups known as strata.
      • Cluster Random Sampling
        • In cluster sampling, instead of selecting all the subjects from the entire population right off, the researcher takes several steps in gathering his sample population.
    • nonprobability
    • Select a representative sample of the study
    • Is based in any element of the population
  2. Non probability

    • is a non-probability sampling technique wherein the assembled sample has the same proportions of individuals as the entire population with respect to known characteristics, traits or focused phenomenon.
    • Convenience sampling
      • technique where subjects are selected because of their convenient accessibility and proximity to the researcher.
  3. Hypotesis: Statement about some parameter. It can be true or false

    • Hypotesis testing: procedure to determine if a hypothesis is true or not.
    • STATISTICAL HYPOTHESIS: Statement about the probability distribution of a random variable.
