1. Sirven para unir unas oraciones con otras

   • Los más comunes son: y o pero, porque (and, or, because, or)

2. Existen otro tipo de conectores que resultan más adecuados y adornan mejor la oracion

   • Se llaman recursos estílisticos
     • Adversativos
       • However/ Sin embargo
         • I studied a lot. However, I failed
       • Nevertheles/ No obstante
         • I studied a lot. Nevertheless, I failed
       • yet / still / Sin embargo
         • He is a good person. Still / Yet he should be more polite
       • Instead / En vez de eso ( Lo que ya se ha dicho)

       • Instead of / En vez de (Lo que se va a decir)
         • Pete shoul try to be calm instead of being (vervo + ing siempre) so nervous
       • One the one hand / Por una parte One the other hand / Por otra parte

     • Copulativos
       • Añaden información a lo que se ha dicho en la oración anterior o unen una oración con otra
         • Both / and
           • She is both tall and slim
         • Not only / but also
           • She is not only tall but also slim
         • Not only...but...as well
           • Not only did he work in a shop but in a restaurant as well.
         • No sooner than
           • He was no sooner graduated than he started to work

3. Disyuntivos

   • Expresan una elección entre una y otra idea
     • Or
       • She was bored or tired
     • Either
       • She was either(o) bored or(o) tired
     • either / or
       • She wasn´t either (ni) interested or (ni) exited
     • neither / nor (no se usa en negativo)
       • He was neither interested or exited
     • Whether / or
       • She didn´t know whether to stay at the meeting or leave
     • or / else
       • You should study harder , or else you´ll fail
     • Otherwise
       • You should study harder, otherwisw you´ll fail

4. Causales

   • Indican una causa
     • Because (porque) se puede sustituir con: for, since o as
       • I didn´t go out because it was rainig
       • for (puesto que)
         • since (ya que)
     • Due to / Owing to / because of debido a
       • No admiten déspues un verbo o sujeto, solo un objeto
         • I didn´t go out due to the rainig
         • I didn´t go owing due to the rainig
         • I didn´t go out because of the rainig
