  1. NET (Native English Teachers)
    1. Usually favor the native speaker because of
        1. that
          1. Doesn’t account for the variability of speakers at various levels (sociocultural contexts)
            1. They have an Standard English (appropriate model for language proficiency) which is also a Measure of language ability
              1. It’s only a biased linguistic construct
                1. Some people and even teachers (mainly Primary School teachers) believe that NET are better than NNET because learners should be able to interact primarily with native speakers
              2. Language ideologies
                1. Nativespeakerism and Standarization
                  1. Only the educated native speakers exhibit the standard
                  2. Monolingual Nativism
                    1. Places the idealized native speaker within a monolingual idealized context for its study
              3. NNET (Non-Native English Teachers)
                1. Unfavorable position compared to NET because of
                  1. Their non-ideal language ability and cultural knowledge (“Imperfect users of the language”)
                    1. Self-perception
                      1. Lacking the language ability that NET have and Impression of inferiority in comparisson
                        1. Perception of themselves as having limited language competence and their adherence to the
                          1. Native speaker fallacy
                          2. Some Prospective teachers aim to achieve native-like profiency and mimic a native’s speaker communicative performance
                            1. They face limitations with regard to their knowledge or some language skills but they think that those limitations didn’t have negative effects in their performance
                              1. Their comprehension of contextual issues is bigger because they are NNET instructors in an EFL setting
                                1. Permanent acknowledgement of their language difficulties lead them to a negative self-perception
                                  1. Being stronger in their reading and writing competences than in their speaking ability
