Statistics is the branch of mathematics that studies variability, as well as the random process that generates it following laws of probability As part of mathematics, statistics is a deductive formal science, with its own knowledge, dynamic and Continuous development obtained through the formal scientific method.

     • Descriptive statistics
       • Descriptive statistics is the branch of Mathematics that collects, presents and characterizes a data set (for example, age of a population, height of students in a school, temperature in the summer months, etc.) in order to properly describe the various characteristics of that set.
         • The results are not absolutely true and should be presented as a probability • Does not explain phenomena or establish causal relationships • It does not deal with what happens with specific individuals in the sample

     • Inferencial statistics
       • Inferential Statistics Branch of Mathematical Statistics that deals with methods for making statistical inferences. It also includes hypothesis tests.
         • similarities
           • The similarities between descriptive and inferential statistics are mainly based on an understanding of applied statistics that aims to infer results on a population from one or several samples. In the two types of statistics when coding the information, we find variables and levels of measurement.
         • limitations
           • You do not have access to the entire population that is interested in the research but only a limited number of data instead. • It deals with specific sample data
