WHAT IS PREHISTORY?
1. Prehistory extends from emergence of our first ancestors, about five million years ago, to the invention of writting, about 5.000 years ago. There were no written texts during this period.
  1. IS DIVIDED IN 3 PERIODS:
    1. PALAEOLITHIC
      1. 11.000 ago. Human beings lived from hunting and gathering
    2. NEOLITHIC
      1. 11.OOO years ago. Groups of human beings started to live in villages. They practised agriculture and raised cattle.
    3. METAL
      1. 7.000 years ago. Human beings learned to use metals to make objects
WHAT WERE EARLY HUMAN BEINGS LIKE?
1. HOMO HABILIS
  1. These appeared 2.000.ooo years ago. Their brain was bigger. Their name `habilis´ means skilful. They made stone tools and lived from hunting and gathering.
2. AUSTRALOPITHECUS
  1. These appeared about 5.000.000 years ago. They were very similar to chimpanzees. However, the Australopithecus normally walked on two feet.
3. HOMO ERECTUS
  1. These appeared 1.500.ooo years ago. They walked upright. This was the first species to live outside Africa. They lived in Europe and Asia. They discoverd fire
4. THE FIRST EUROPEANS
  1. · The oldest human remains in Europe appeared in Atapuerca, Spain. They are 800.000 years old and their name is Homo antecessor.
  2. · Neanderthals were a different species who lived in Europe 150.000 years ago. They were the first species to bury their dead. It seems they were able to speak.
5. HOMO SAPIENS
  1. They started 130.000 years ago. They developed a more complex lenguaje and they strated to do art.
