1. What is it?

   • it's a pandemic still in process, that the firts case was registered last year in wuhan-china
   • Corona - latim for "crown". this group of viruses is given it's name due to the fact that it's surface looks like a crowns under an electron microscope

2. Danger

   • dangerous for people over 60 years old or patients with preexisting condition or wekened immune systems.
   • much more contagious and spread with much more facility that the flu
   • fatality rate: 2,3%

3. Symptoms

   • most common: -fever -dry cough -fatigue
     • 5% critical cases 14% severe cases 81% mild cases
       • Critical cases: respiratory failure, septic shock and/or multiple organ dysfunction or failure
       • severe cases: :shortness of breath
       • mild cases: the majoritary of the cases, without pneumonia or mild pneumonia
   • It last on average 2 weeks
     • several and critic cases: 3 to 6 weeks

4. Consequenses

   • will infect too many people and will overload the healthcare system, if people don't deal correctly with it
     • people will die without treatment
   • crisis on the healthcare system
     • economic crises

5. How to fight it?

   • quarantines
     • social distance
       • NO: hand shake, hugging, kissing
     • stay home
       • no school no work
   • basic notions of hygiene: washing hands, using hand sanitizer, taking bath every day
   • It is important testing people because allows infected people to know that they are infected and to not infect other people
   • FLATTENING THE CURVE
     • lower the rate of infection so that the epidemic is spread out over time such that the peak demand on the healthcare system is lower
