                        1. Semantics: the system of Meaning in a language
                          1. Lexis: The vocabulary of a language
                            1. Phonology: the sound system of a particular language
                              1. Grammar: Syntax and Morphology
                                1. How do these levels related?
                                  1. There are not clear cut division lines among them. Different analysis will make different divisions.
                                    1. How is Grammar organized?
                                      1. RANK: different levels of organization withing grammar
                                        1. SENTENCE - CLAUSE - GROUP - WORDS
                                          1. CLAUSE: embedding - one unit is used as a constituent of another unit at the same or lower level
                                        2. CLASS
                                          1. NOUNS - VERBS -ADVERBS - ADJECTIVES

                                              1. The only recognized frase is the PREPOSITIONAL FRASE. the others are groups
                                          2. How is "Meaning" organized?
                                            1. EXPERIENTIAL MEANING: It has to o with the ways language represent our experience
                                              1. INTERPERSONAL MEANING: It has to do with the ways in which we act apong one an other through language and the ways in which we express aour judgement and attitudes
                                                1. TEXTUAL MEANING: It has to do with the ways in which a strech of language is organized in relation to its context.
