Combustion reaction
1. Is a reation of a substance with oxygen, usually acompanied by visible fire.
  1. 3 conditions for this reactions to occur
    1. Combustible substance
    2. Enough oxygen
    3. Right temperature
2. produces heat, exothermic can lead to:
  1. Flames
  2. Ash
    1. Sparks
Combustion of elements
1. Most will react with oxygen
  1. The reaction prouct which is formed is called an oxide
Combustion of a compound
1. When you burn a compound 2 or more can be formed
Incomplete combustion
1. Not enough oxygen
Reagents
1. Changes visibly in contact with the substance you want to identify
2. Should be:
  1. Selective
  2. Sensitive
