2. TECHNOLOGICAL AND PEDAGOGICAL ASPECTS OF USING AUDIOVISUAL MATERIALS
- What is audiovisual referred to? With the arrival of new technologies, the expression audiovisual refers to the use of machines as means of communication and diffusion (Computers, TV…).

- 2.1.Reasons to use audiovisual materials in class.
- In the past few decades, Information and Communication Technologies have provided society with a vast variety of communication technologies.
- Nowadays’ students are digital natives (Judd, 2018), since they have spent their entire lives surrounded by technology, internet, computers, smartphones, videogames, and other mobile digital devices, this is one of the reasons why we should include audiovisual materials into the English classroom.
- reasons to use audiovisual materials: they allow multi-sense learning, they can be used to introduce new topics or summarize ideas and also to clarify complex ideas.
- Audiovisual aids help the learner understand the English language by bringing the world into the classroom.
- we should make sure that the selected audio-visual aid will convey the topic effectively.
- Edutainment(Agarwal et al. 2019) + Lucardie (2014)

- 2.2. Types of audiovisual materials and their pedagogical implication.
- def of audiovisual materials of Gitanlaji (2021): Audio visual aids are those devices which are used in classrooms to encourage teaching learning process and make it easier and interesting.
- There are many types of audiovisual materials. I am going to comment on the most important ones:
- 2.2.1. Visual materials
- Visual aids are those materials which we see and can be understood by observing the visual aspect of any object.
- The first step of the reading-writing process, as it is explained in topic 3 and 8, is developing print awareness. That means that students are able to identify single words once they know them orally. For that purpose the use word cards, posters and the blackboard is highly recommended. Finally, to develop intensive and extensive reading we can use magazines, newspapers and books.

- 2.2.2. Auditory materials
- The use of recordings in FLT is essential due to 2 main reasons. First, they provide examples of English native speakers; secondly sound effects are motivating and helpful for comprehension.
- When we use auditory materials we must bear in mind the following teaching tips: to play every sequence more than once and to include different voices and language varieties.
- We will use the Internet to obtain our auditory materials: Youtube, lyricstraining, materials made by the teacher. Another possibility is to use specific ESL programs. One great didactic resource for English teachers is the use of Vaughan Radio, as well as the creation or use of podcasts adapted to their level.

- 2.2.3. Audiovisual materials
- Audiovisual materials have a double advantage: they have visual impact of the image in movement and the auditory aid. The main advantage is that the language is contextualized.
- Among the different possibilities we can use in the English class, we can mention: the television, Youtube videos (authentic and non-authentic), tablets, the interactive white boards.

3. THE COMPUTER AS AN AUXILIARY RESOURCE FOR LEARNING AND IMPROVING FOREIGN LANGUAGES
- For our Ss using computers is a natural part of their daily lives. Education should walk side by side with the demands of our society. For this reason, new technologies should be included in our lessons.
- 3.1. Reasons to use computers in the English classroom
- Bearing in mind neuroeducational principles, motivation is an essential aspect for children to succeed in their learning process (Bueno, 2019).
- because they serve as neutral assessment. English language exercises on-line can be a good solution for less advantaged children as they will be corrected or evaluated by a machine and not by the teacher.
- because they are used as one of the major means of communication. Communicating with other students from other places of the world, can be considered as a very rewarding experience in which the students have the opportunity of using the FL in a real communicative situation at the same time as they use a computer
- because they are a great tool for diversity and inclusion. In big classes, there will always be children who learn at a different pace. By using computers each child can do exercises that are adapted to his/her rhythm and level.
- 3.2. Computer as a teacher’s tool
- the computer is a teaching aid augmenting the teaching options that we can employ and at the same time a storage media. Let as see how to use the computer as as teacher tool.
- Computers allow finding a lot of resources and easy preparation of materials, such as worksheets and flashcards. We can use Canva.com for this purpose
- Finally, teachers must keep in mind several criteria when selecting the material: accuracy, relevance, language level, educational potential, etc. As we now, the amount of resources on the internet is huge. Therefore this selection process is becoming more a more necessary.

- 3.3. Computer as a tool for learning
- The purpose of computer-based lessons is to involve students to actively participate in language learning exercises and get more practice than otherwise possible in a traditional classroom environment.
- When using the computers we should make sure pupils carry out their task while we monitor, help, guide and advise if necessary.
- As we can read in topic 23, Ss can use computers to create materials what makes them to truly understand the concepts to create materials form them
- When using the computers we should make sure pupils carry out their task while we monitor, help, guide and advise if necessary.
- The purpose of computer-based lessons is to involve students to actively participate in language learning exercises and get more practice than otherwise possible in a traditional classroom environment.
- 3.4. Pedagogical use
- When using the computer or tablet, the teacher must ensure that the activities and exercises are connected to the curriculum and are appropriate for their level of competence and age.
- Technology can provide the students with language experiences as they move through the various stages of language acquisition: a presentation stage, a practice stage and a production stage.
- In the Presentation stage, the teacher can use multimedia applications (Powtoon or using Voki avatars) to provide the students with comprehensible input in the pre-production stage.
- In the Practice stage students can progress to programs that require controlled responses. We can use deck.toys to make them practice and review the contents from the unit. An advantage of this website is that can be designed following Blomm's Taxonomy so we can see at what level the students have understood our explanations
- In the Production stage, writing to penfriends via electronic mail or chat on the Internet
- Erasmus + and eTwinning project, In these projects, our Ss can comunicate with Ss from other countries and teachers work together and organize activities for their students

4 Conclusion
- As a way of conclusion, I would like to say that in today ś world, English language and the new technologies work closely together. English is the official language of media and the Internet. So, why don t́ we work on both of them from a very early age?
- technology needs reasoning to be employed effectively + general techniques that all teacher should follow
