Types of Research Design

1. Experimental Research or Analytical Research

   • Used to test a research model with causal relationship
   • For this research model to develop, situations must be fully under control.
   • It is an experiment that at the same time makes use of observation in controlled environments.
   • The alternative hypothesis can be tested
   • The independent variable is modified and changes in the dependent variable are measured.
   • Types of Experimental Research
     • After-only experimental design
     • Before – after experimental design.
     • Ex-post facto design
     • Panel study

2. Explanatory Research

   • Used to explore a new world
   • Researchers focus on causes (why)
   • Involves comparison and change factors. Example: different types of violence and alcoholism.
   • It is used to relate two or several variants, in addition, it is not only hypothesized that A is related to B, but the effect that A has on B is also sought.
   • Directs the investigator to look for the facts
