Industrial Relations Conflict

Nota:

• when workers in one firm receive a pay rise, works doing similar work in another firm seek a similar increase

Nota:

• when workers doing different types of work require a wage increase in order to restore the pay relationship which previously existed with a specified category of worker

Nota:

• when workers feel that their workload has increased w/o adequate compensation, they may seek a pay rise for being more productive

Nota:

• workers may seek a pay rise when the price of goods & services increases from one year to the next - inflation

Nota:

• Discrimination: the treatment of one person in a less favourable way than another is, has been or would be treated, b/c of... ...gender, marital status, family status, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, age, disability, race, traveller.

Nota:

• harassment: any act or conduct which is unwelcome and offensive, humiliating or intimidating on a discriminatory ground, incl. spoke, gestures, written materials, pictures. 

Nota:

• Equal Pay: all contracts must contain an equal pay clause - all employees are entitled to the same pay for like work, similar work, work of equal value
