                1. Genetic engineering is the manipulation of an organism’s genome using biotechnology. A nuclease is used to remove the undesired gene and a new one is formed either through molecular cloning or by synthesizing the DNA and inserting it into the host organism.
                  1. Genetic engineering has a wide range of uses including medicine, research, industry, and agriculture. It is heavily used in agriculture to produce genetically modified foods such as seedless fruits and vegetables, or hybrid crosses between grown foods. One other use in agriculture is to produce grown foods that are resistant to certain diseases or viruses that affect crops.
                    1. Genetic engineering has a wide array of uses in medicine and has led to big medical breakthroughs such as the mass production of insulin, human growth hormone, human albumin, and many different vaccines.

                      1. Gene therapy is the genetic engineering of humans by replacing defective cells on DNA strands with working functional copies. It has been used to treat many disease including Parkinson’s disease and chronic lymphocytic leukemia

                        1. How is it applied to medicine: Gene therapy is applied to medicine because it makes people who are diseased and you transplant the corrective genes and that makes the person healthy again. This is not used in the medical fields because it could have serious side effects.

What do we use it for: Gene therapy is used for the correction of defective cells that we can’t find another cure for do to the side effects that are associated with gene therapy. We use the gene therapy to replace the defective cells with the transplant of corrective cells in the form of DNA and RNA. This results in the DNA or RNA being replaced by the healthy strands. With this process will correct the deficient cells returning them back to normal.
                            1. What is it: Gene therapy is the experimental technique of transplant of putting corrective cells in the place of the missing or defective cells this treat’s or prevents disease. This is done through the alter of DNA or RNA there fore corrects the disease. Even though this treatment is promising it is still risky and the process is not entirely safe and can cause serous side effects that is why it is currently being treated on diseases with no cures.
                            2. Transgenic
                              1. What is it: Transgenic organisms are an organism that has its DNA changed by the infusion of genes from another organism. The genetic change that occurs happens when you insert DNA into an embryo with the help of a virus or plasmid. The embryo then develops into a mature organism which will express the gene. Transgenic organisms can also pass the modification on to future generations by breeding with other members of the same species.
                                1. What do we use it for: Transgenic is the process when new genes are introduced into a genetic species. Any offspring now will inherit the gene now because now the parents have that gene. This allows for wanted traits to be part of the genetic line which can make a species stronger or have the adaptions to survive.
