Networking Structures: hosts Roles
1. Peer to Peer Networking
  1. Provide & consume Network; the hosts are clients and servers.
    1. Pro's
      1. Easy and unexpensieve
    2. Cons
      1. Difficult to control. There is no central control.
2. Client/Server
  1. There is a specific provider, and clients (who do not provide networks).
    1. Cons
      1. The Server is Expensieve (unless it is Linux).
    2. Pros
      1. It is easy to nsupport, and the clients are unexpensieve.
Topologies
1. Structure of a network; organized physically or mentally.
  1. Bus
    1. There is a central cable (like a backcone); and the clients are connected to this backbone.
  2. Ring
    1. Data travels around in a ring, in one direction. There is no server.
  3. Hybrid
    1. For example a tree network (bus and star combinated). Or a star.ring network.
  4. Mesh
    1. All are connected with all.
  5. Point-to-Point
    1. The simplest type of topology, between two end points.
  6. Star
    1. All the clients are connected to a hub (what connects multiple computers or other network devices together).
  7. Daisy Chain
    1. A linear Network, but it works on both directions.
Local Area Network
1. LAN
  1. Local Area Netwrok
    1. Geographycally close
      1. Printer, for example, uses LAN,
2. WLAN
  1. Or Wireless LAN
    1. Wide Area
      1. Hospitals and business are expexted to use WLAN.
Signaling
1. Baseband
  1. One signal at a time.
  2. Uses the whole wire
2. Broadband
  1. Divided into Chanels
    1. Multiple signals at a time.

    1. Share a common acces, it uses 10 MBp/s; it is resistance and expensive

2. Twisted Pair
  1. 4 pairs = 8 wires
    1. 22, 24 Gauge
  2. May be affected by EMI (ElectroMagnetic Interference), but they cancel each other if they are twisted; although, the environment also has EMI.
  3. Shielded twisted pair/Unshielded twisted pair
