Contractor Management

The client and contractor have shared responsibilities for ensuring good H & S
1. The client must carefully select contractors on the basis of H & S competence
  1. These include looking at policy documents, accident and enforcement history, qualifications and experience
    1. Client must ensure the contractor carrys out risk assessments and method statements and work safely to agreed methods
Construction (design and management) Regs 2007 (CDM)
1. Impose a framework for management of construction projects
  1. For notifiable projects the CDM identifies 5 duty holders
    1. Notifiable projects are planned over 30 days and more than 500 person days
      1. Regs require preparation of construction phase plan and H & S file for finished structure

        5 / Contractors
        A person or org engaged to undertake work on behalf of a client, but not under supervision of client
