Solid Rivet Removal

1. Safety

   • Eye protection
   • Check anything behind rivet
   • Warn others in vicinity
   • Prevent debris entering cavities
   • Clean work area

2. Method

   • Head type protruding = file a flat
   • Centre-punch
     • To prevent undue stress, turn drill chuck by hand to create a start
   • Drill rivet head
     • Using bit same size as rivet shank
     • To bottom of rivet head
   • Do NOT chisel off head
   • Support rearside of structure
     • Use parallel pin-punch
       • Size of rivet shank
       • Drift out rivet tail
